If you’re a Western history buff, this tour is for you. Custer’s troops roamed the Yellowstone Valley prior to the fatal confrontation at Little Bighorn. Stop at Pompeys Pillar, where Custer’s troops were surprised by non-treaty Indians in 1873. The towns of Custer and Hysham offer fuel and food, or visit Hysham’s Yucca Theater. Continue on to Forsyth for even more options. At I-94 exit 87, head south to Colstrip, where the Schoolhouse History and Art Center offers changing exhibits and historical perspective on the town’s main industry: power production for states throughout the west. Continue south on Hwy. 39 to Lamedeer, governmental hub of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe, then west on Hwy. 212 to Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, site of one of history’s most famous military confrontations. From atop Last Stand Hill, imagine how you might have changed history. Hardin, 15 miles northwest, offers shopping, dining, the Big Horn County Historical Museum and sight-seeing. The last leg of the journey takes you back to Billings. This 200-mile trip takes as little as four hours to complete.

In the 1990’s, Crow Native Days was initiated by Carl Venne as an event to entertain the youth during the Nomee Administration. He was assigned a project by the Crow Tribe for ways to combat Drug and Alcohol abuse by youth and adults; thus bringing to life
Crow Native Days. This event incorporated some events that were started in the 1990’s as well, such as the Ultimate Warrior Challenge.

You're invited to come face to face with history at Custer's Last Stand Reenactment,
celebrating the anniversary of the Battle of the Little Bighorn. The annual Reenactment takes place six miles west of Hardin, Montana. Using a script written from notes by Crow Tribal Historian Joe Medicine Crow, the Reenactment tells the tale of the Battle of the
