ZooMontana is a regional zoological/botanical garden, the only one of its kind in the Northern Rockies. A habitat, more than a zoo. From ZooMontana's conception it was decided that this zoo should be more than a recreational collection of animals and plants.

More than ten different dinosaur species have been discovered in Makoshika State Park. Many of the most impressive finds are displayed at the park's visitor center. These include a complete triceratops skull, Tyrannosaurus Rex remains, and the nearly complete skeleton of a Thescelosaur.

Carter County Museum, the first county museum founded in the State of Montana, is located within the town of Ekalaka. The stones used to construct much of the building are pieces of petrified wood taken from a petrified forest nearby. This little known museum houses some of the finest paleontological discoveries in the United States.

This newly renovated museum seeks to educate visitors about the origins of life on earth according to the Biblical principles of Creationism. The museum uses its impressive collection of fossils, as well as guided dinosaur digs in the nearby badlands surrounding Glendive, to prove biblical stories such as Noah's Flood. It is one of only about 20 museums of its kind in the United States, and one of only 30 in the world.
