Each summer, from the first week of June through the last week of July, Makoshika State Park offers a Youth Program for school aged children. The programs, held each Thursday morning from 9:30am to 11:30am, provide natural science and educational activities in outdoor and indoor settings. Children that participate in at least half of the summer's programs are eligible to attend a camp out on the first Wednesday and Thursday of August at the Lions Camp in the park. Admission is free.
Makoshika State Park Youth Program will be held at Makoshika State Park. Take I-94 Glendive Exits and follow signs 2-3 miles through town to Makoshika State Park, which is adjacent to the southeast city limits.
